Mike Mahay is a drawing artist with works predominately on paper. His practice stems from a self-taught approach of observing what is fleeting through the permanence and immediacy of ink.

Organic matter and the inanimate are taken at their structural form to present as foundational, non-figurative. Elements and subjects are lost among foliage or debris, in others the lines are minimal remarks.

Mike is a first-generation Canadian of South Asian descent. Themes studied are of solitude and solace, fear and identity, proud joy and resilience.

Mike is based in Vancouver on the traditional and unceded territories of the Coast Salish peoples.

The green of now blends into the gone.
